Our Wines

Backed by three generations of Italo-Australian winemaking heritage, Concrete & Clay is a Victorian wine using artisanal techniques for contemporary Australian palates. From its home in coastal South East Melbourne, Concrete & Clay sources grapes from its own unique 40 acre estate and also curates the very best fruit from other Victorian regions to craft deliciously drinkable wines.

New Release

Viognier 2018

This wine has been fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in French oak barriques to balance the vibrancy of stone fruits with textural complexity.

Pinot Noir 2018

Our Pinot Noir is grown and vinified at our vineyard and winery at Bangholme, on the southern suburban fringe of Melbourne. Open fermented with a small portion of whole bunches and matured in older French oak this is savoury and delicious wine of both spice and red fruits.


Rose 2018

A blend of Shiraz and Tempranillo grapes. We used both whole bunch pressing and wild fermentation to achieve delicacy and texture. This savoury Rosé with red berry fruits has a lovely dry finish.

Chardonnay 2018

Our Chardonnay has been fermented in a combination of ceramic egg fermenters and older French barriques. From a cool and classic year, it is restrained, precise and citrus driven. Will soften with time.

"White peach & subtle florals. Subtle palate and fine palate."

Pinot Noir 2017

The 2017 Pinot Noir is our best vintage of this varietal to date. Coupled with the cooler growing conditions along with the use of old French Oak creates a wine with both spice and lovely red fruit character.

Riesling 2018

Our Riesling delivers fresh, cool green apple and pine flavours that match its Alpine origins. Mineral characters and citrus blossom create a refreshing dry finish.

Grenache Mourvedre 2017

This medium bodied wine has aromas of violets and raspberries. The palate displays dark blackberries with a little pepper and is very easy to drink. Blend of Grenache, Mataro and Cinsault.

Merlot Cabernet 2017

Ripe red fruit with excellent intensity and acidic drive it is a wine that will age well over time. The 2017 vintage was an excellent year for these two Bordeaux varieties.

Shiraz 2017

Our Shiraz is rich with lovely black fruits and a textured mid palate. We co-fermented this wine using 1% Viognier skins which helps add perfume and as well as texture. Will age very well over the medium term.

Our Family

Concrete & Clay was founded by one of Victoria’s enduring wine industry families, the Baggio’s, whose working history dates back to the early 20th Century in Montello, Italy. The vision to merge their heritage within the wine & food production industries has culminated in the establishment of this winery, adding a new chapter to Australia’s rich wine culture. Concrete & Clay might be a new name, but it’s been over a 100 years in the making.

Our Winemaker

Our chief winemaker, Paul Baggio embarked on his journey in his early 20’s working in Italian wineries, and completing studies of winemaking and brewing in Europe & Australia. Further vintage work continued in South Africa and in the U.S, before then returning to Australia where he has been consulting with some of our best artisanal wineries since. Establishing Concrete & Clay was a lifelong dream to expand his generational heritage and express his trans-continental experience to his very own winemaking team back home.
